This week, John Harrell will be teaching the following technique: Meditation: postures and styles, with extended focus on shamatha, body scanning, and open awareness I personally practice Tibetan Buddhism, but Ill pull from MBSR, Zen, Reggie Ray's tantra-inspired somatic techniques, and general Hinayana. I'll open with a general settling meditation, then ask questions about ppl's practices and experiences. Afterwards, I'll introduce postures and how they can benefit prolonged sitting and awareness. From there, we'll move into styles, and sit for 13 minutes in shamatha then body scan + open awareness. Ill invite discussion on both sittings plus questions after.
